Dr. William F. McKenzie (“Dr. Mac”)

After delivering generations of Central Oahu’s babies, Dr. Mac retired from his long OB-GYN practice—but not from serving the community. Besides WEDG, Dr. Mac also lends his wisdom and wit as a board member for Ho‘ala School, current mentor and past president for the Rotary Club of Wahiawa-Waialua, and a medical consultant for Opportunities and Resources, Inc. (ORI). Known for his legendary sense of humor, Dr. Mac is rumored to have said, "The key to success in life? Work hard, stay humble, and never forget: if you can't laugh at yourself, I'll be happy to do it for you."

I'm a lifelong “people + technology” problem solver who loves turning big ideas into real-world community impact.
My background includes workforce development, nonprofit operations, digital literacy training, database management, community outreach, and instructional support across schools, nonprofits, and social impact initiatives. I have worked with organizations such as Achieve Zero, Boys & Girls Clubs, AmeriCorps programs, and community ministries to develop educational programs, support volunteer initiatives, and bridge technology gaps for youth, families, and seniors.

About WEDG
WEDG is the Whitmore Economic Development Group, a grassroots community organization since 2013, with 501(c)(3) status as of February 2014.
We are community-centered and dedicated to strengthening Hawaiʻi’s agricultural future through workforce development, digital inclusion, entrepreneurship, and community-based education.
Rooted in Central Oʻahu’s agricultural history and rural communities, WEDG was founded to support sustainable economic development and expand opportunities for local farmers. Today, WEDG continues that mission by creating practical programs that help individuals and families adapt to Hawaiʻi’s changing economic realities while supporting long-term community resilience and local self-sufficiency.
Our programs connect workforce readiness, technology, and lifelong learning to Hawaiʻi’s growing need for stronger local food systems, agricultural infrastructure, and community-based economic development. Through initiatives such as the Mākaukau Training Program, WEDG is building intergenerational pathways that prepare residents to participate in and strengthen Hawaiʻi’s evolving agricultural and local business ecosystems.
Whether assisting residents gain workforce certifications, improve digital skills, explore entrepreneurship, or learn pathways toward scalable farming and local distribution, WEDG believes every generation has a role in building a more resilient Hawaiʻi.
Through a collaborative partnership with the Agribusiness Development Corporation, we established our premier community resource venue, the Pineapple Crate (Our headquarters in Whitmore Village, Wahiawa, HI).
